| New and Innovative IEC 61131 PLC System Now Avaliable from KontronBased on the compact and versatile Kontron ThinkIO platform, the new IEC 61131 PLC system runs in parallel with Windows on dual-core processors for optimum hard real-time performance. Nürnberg, Germany – November 28, 2006 – Kontron Embedded Computers (www.kontron.com), in partnership with KW-Software (www.kw-software.com), Profimatics (www.profimatics.de), and TenAsys Corporation (www.tenasys.com), announces a new and innovative PLC system for OEM customers based on the compact and versatile Kontron ThinkIO embedded PC platform. The new PLC system technology is based on the KW Software IEC 61131 PLC runtime engine, ProConOS, their IEC 61131 PLC programming environment, MULTIPROG, and their machine visualization application, ProVisIT. Profimatics adapted the KW-Software applications and I/O subsystems, including EtherCAT and Hilscher CIF, to the TenAsys INtime RTOS for Windows. "INtime enables ProConOS to guarantee a high degree of reliability and determination on PC platforms," said Kim Hartman, TenAsys VP Sales and Marketing. On an Intel® Core™ Duo processor, ProConOS runs under the INtime RTOS on one CPU core while the second CPU core simultaneously runs the Windows operating system and executes standard Windows applications; for example, the ProVisIT visualization task. The INtime RTOS runs in parallel with Windows on a single hardware platform to insure real-time determinism for the ProConOS PLC runtime engine.
